When I chose this as my next notebook a few weeks back I didn’t quite envisage “Living My Best Life” to involve zero contact with people outside my home đ
But today is the first page of “Living My Best Life”, and of course it involves some plans for the future!
Â
It can be hard to imagine what it could be like in the months to come as we all work together to deal with this badass virus. Life as we knew it has changed forever, whether we like it or not – we sure as đ© ain’t going back to the way things were!
Â
Theres an exercise I do with my clients that I call âYour Dream Lifeâ, where you project yourself into a future where you have everything you want, all your needs are met. Essentially youâre âliving your dreamâ, whatever that means for you.
Â
Some people struggle with this because theyâre being limited by their current circumstances, external influences, chronic stress, they havenât tapped into their imagination and let their creative thinking loose since school, a whole bunch of reasons.

But if ever there was a time when we need to start thinking about what you want your life to look like in a year, 3 years, 5 years from now, THIS IS IT.
Â
Heres a super simplified version of what I get people to do…
Â
- Grab a pen and paper.
- Find a quiet spot where you can relax for a few minutes.
- Set a timer on your phone for at least 5 minutes so you donât have to think about how much time has passed.
- Close your eyes.
- Take a few deep breaths.
- Ask yourself⊠What do I really want?
If the first answer is âa McFlurry from Maccas with some fries to dip in itâ, thats totally normal surface level stuff đÂ
Â
The key is to stick with it.
Â
Give yourself the mental space for the thoughts to come through, because the Universe doesnât shout its ideas at you, it whispers. When youâre caught up in all that busy-ness that everyone has been talking about FOR YEARS like it some kind of badge of honour (it isnât!), you canât hear those whispers above all the other bullshit noise.
Â
Weâve all just been handed the perfect opportunity to sit quietly for AT LEAST 5 minutes so you can hear what it is you truly want. (HINT: you already know, you just havenât acknowledged it yet đ)
Â
When ‘this’ is all over, whenever that may be, what are you going to do to make sure you’re living YOUR best life every day?
Â
(BTW you donât have to share publicly, but it would be awesome if you did because your idea may inspire one other person to do something different and live THEIR best life.)
