EP 030 – 3 habits successful entrepreneurs will leave behind in 2023
If you’re not making the progress you’d like so far this year, there could be some ‘stuff’ getting in the way of you maximising your business and money potential.
In this quick tip episode I share 3 habits you can give up in 2023 that probably aren’t helping you become the successful entrepreneur you were born to be.

If you’re listening in real time its Thursday 6th of April 2023, we’re well and truly into the swing of things this year – or at least you ‘should’ be. I’m putting ‘should’ in inverted commas because shoulding, woulding, coulding are all things that can technically get in the bin, we don’t need extra guilt about anything!
The thing is though, time doesn’t stop just because we feel like it, we can’t hit pause. Whats that saying, “time waits for no man”, well it doesn’t wait for women, children, the elderly, entrepreneurs, employees, CEOs or anyone else.
Thats why today I want to give you a gentle reminder of things we can all ‘give up’ or at least work on giving up, in 2023. Committing to a time frame helps get your focus aimed in the right direction so you can take the steps to do something about it.

Alright, these things we can all give up in 2023 are of course related to business, money and fun, because thats what we’re here for! More business, more money, more fun! Yes please and thank you Universe!
I’ve got a list of 3 things, lets get into them!
1 – Giving away your power because of an outdated belief
Yes its a big one right out of the gate. We all have beliefs about literally everything, whether they’re actually true or not, they feel true for you.
But if that belief isn’t serving you and its actually causing you to give away your power, lose business, leave money on the table or miss out on something important and fun… thats something I’m going to suggest you consider giving up ASAP.
I’m talking about things like…
- Offering a discount before its been requested because you feel bad about your pricing.
- Giving something away for free because you feel bad charging for it in the first place.
- Changing the terms of how you do business because you want to appear accommodating and there could be a big payoff if you do.
All of those are rooted in outdated beliefs.
Feeling bad about charging for your amazing work doesn’t help you or anyone else.
Offering discounts or giving it away for free not only devalues your work but it makes people wonder why it was worth the original price in the first place.
And its great to accommodate requests, especially if theres a potential big pay off, but not if it feels icky, gross, like you’ve sold your soul and let someone take advantage of you. Whatever the big pay off is might pan out – and it might not.
Its important to stand in your power, know what works for you and what doesn’t, and have the confidence to say “No, thats not going to work for me. Heres what we can do instead.”
2 – Undercharging
I’ve mentioned this one several times before, and I’ll most likely keep talking about it forever! At least until we close the gender pay gap and we all start charging appropriately for our work.
Now, its not up to me to say what your work is valued at, I’m a Connector Ruler Accumulator money archetype combo, I have a particular relationship with money that may be very different to yours. If you’re a Celebrity Alchemist Ruler you’ll likely have a very different way of setting your prices to me. And thats perfect for you!
What I mean by undercharging is if what you receive for the work you do isn’t covering the bills, you’re struggling to make ends meet, you’re working harder than ever before just to make the same money and the thought of bringing on more clients so you can make the money you need is exhausting… thats something to work on letting go of.
I’ll just sum this one up by saying raise your damn fees!
Being paid appropriately helps you create the time freedom you want, and it helps fund all the fun awesome things you want as well.
3 – Ignoring your financial situation
This one ties in with the first two in that if you’re undercharging and bending over backwards to say yes to every request that comes your way, you’re effectively ignoring your own financial situation.
You need to know your numbers.
Everyone knows about tracking expenses and seeing where the money is going, but are you tracking your income as well? Do you know where the money is coming from?
Track your money! When you know how much money came in this month, last month, and the month before, you start to see a pattern. You can see what activities led to you making that money, you can ditch the activities that DON’T make money and focus your energy on the important stuff.
Tracking your money doesn’t have to be complicated, you can do a simple spreadsheet or draw up a table on a piece of paper.
Put the days of the month down one column, and the amount you made that day in another column. If you got multiple amounts from various sources just add them up and put them in.
We’re talking money in your hand, in your account, not after tax, after expenses or anything else. Don’t overcomplicate it, this isn’t something for your accountant or bookkeeper, its purely for you to see the patterns.
Does your income mostly come at the start of the month? End of the month? Is it random or is it based on your marketing activity?
Give up ignoring your financial situation, I want you to max out your money potential SO MUCH! I want everyone to succeed, to charge what you’re worth, to ask for what you want, to confidently say no to the things that aren’t your zone of genius or feel out of alignment.
So there you go, 3 things to give up in 2023:

You don’t have to wait 5 years to earn your stripes, take simple actions now and you’ll see the results THIS year.
