Hey there, and welcome back to the Fun Business Fun Money podcast!
I’m your host, Deirdre Amies.
If we’ve not met yet, hey, hello! I’m a certified business and money coach, I work with fun-loving digital creatives and coaches who want to grow their business without burning themselves out trying to be everything to everyone. Because, you know, thats not cool!
The business review
One of my favourite ways to do that with clients is to do a full review of your business to see what you’ve got going on. We identify what you can immediately let go of because its sucking the life out of you, it’s not really benefitting anyone AND its not making money.
That right there is a huge weight off any business owner’s shoulders. Let go of any BS that you’ve felt like you ‘should’ include or offer.
Instead, let’s all focus on the things that move the needle from a few thousand in revenue each month to multiple five figures in revenue each month.
Then dial your focus in even further with your pricing, your niche and your offers, and you’re on your way to five figures in take home pay and profit, or what I like to call FUN money. From there? The sky’s the limit!
For most online entrepreneurs though, thats a few steps down the track. Its absolutely possible for you to create and achieve those kind of goals. But thats also why we need to take a step right back to the beginning and review what you’ve got going on RIGHT NOW.
Systems are everywhere…
If you’re NOT on my FUNday email list, you’re so missing out!
Or you can simply click the FUNday email link in the description of this episode and hey presto! You’re on the list without faffing about with anything else in between. Totes up to you!
You’ll find the links to all of those in the description and in the show notes for this episode.
“I see systems…”
I’m just gonna say this outright – I LOVE SYSTEMS! I see them everywhere. Kinda like that movie the Sixth Sense, “I see dead people.” I SEE SYSTEMS!
If I’m watching your webinar, I’m absorbing the info you’re sharing AND I’m analysing the way you’ve put it together. Is the info logical, with a nice flow? Or are you spending far more time talking about yourself than the topic people actually came here to get?
There’s no right or wrong there, different styles will resonate with different people. I like to know a little bit about your story, but don’t go overboard or I’m bored VERY quickly, just get to the point already!
My point here is that there’s a system. Of course you should talk about yourself but it shouldn’t be the MAIN thing you talk about!
EVERYTHING IS A SYSTEM.
Even if you think you’re at your best when you’re free-wheeling, off-road style with your ideas and creativity. Even THAT is a system. A chaotic one, but its a system.
It doesn’t mean anything you’ve done up to now is wrong. It just means there are things you can do going forward that will help you be more efficient in your creativity.
Systems will see you free
I constantly hear my money mentor Kendall Summerhawk in my head saying “Systems set you free”. Because its TRUE! They may not seem sexy or fun, but systems will absolutely set you free anyway.
Systems free up so much headspace, you don’t have to keep thinking about all.the.things because its already organised. You start here, you do this, then that, and you end up there. Done!
Thats what I help my clients with. They get to tap into my systems-oriented brain and we walk through a step by step analysis of their expertise. We make sense of it all and how you deliver that expertise to your clients.
The biggest thing that comes from focusing on systems? CLARITY.
One of my favourite clients a few years back has this incredible ability to make complex things really simple and easy for others, but she was completely chaotic in her own systems.
She was at a point where she needed to grow a team so she could delegate work and take on more clients to free her own time up.
She was on the fast track to burn out if she didn’t make a change.
She didn’t have the freedom she’d set out to create because she was working so damn hard all the time without organised systems.
I took her through my signature process that forms the basis of all your offers and leads to easier marketing down the track as well.
The clarity she got from that one exercise was off the charts amazing. It blew my mind! She came back to our next session with so many processes mapped out that I had to tell her it was ok to stop there, she didn’t need to fix everything all at once!
From there we created a couple of offers with pricing to suit, and her business took off like a rocket.
She went from solopreneur utilising a few freelancers on the side, to a full blown digital agency with multiple five figure months, while personally working less hours than ever before.
It was literally a lightbulb moment, like she’d been trying to put together a jigsaw puzzle without knowing what the picture was meant to look like.
Once you have that picture, all the pieces suddenly make sense.
Your expertise is one area where this shows up.
You’ve got SO MUCH GOOD STUFF locked up in your big beautiful brain! Qualifications, certifications, degrees, experiences, insights, memories, all the things that can be turned into resources and offers that actually make you money.
Its so easy to overlook this stuff, especially as women. We’re conditioned to downplay our expertise and think its no big deal, everyone can do this, I’m nothing special.
But you ARE something special.
NOT everyone can do what you do.
Not everyone KNOWS what you know.
Shocker, I know!
We need to quit undercharging and giving that shizz away for free.
You deserve to be paid, and paid WELL, for your expertise.
When you realise just how unique you are, that you are indeed an expert in something, everything changes.
Another area that systems show up in is your offers.
Once you get clarity on your expertise you start to see how it can be pulled together into a viable offer that people will happily pay you for.
The initial process I take clients through gives you the overarching view, like the whole menu in a restaurant.
The next step, where we work on your offers, is to narrow your focus on the individual pieces, or the actual dishes available on that menu.
Each one of those is made up of a variety of ingredients, which are all the little pieces of expertise you have within you.
When you put them together in the right combination? Thats a really tasty, appealing offer that people will rave about!
They’ll tell all their friends about it, share reviews online about it, and prompt more people to come and buy FROM YOU.
You have multiple money-making opportunities available to you, there’s so much more to you than just one signature offer.
Thats the full meal, start to finish, all of the courses. You get everything you need without feeling bloated or overwhelmed. Its great value for money, especially for a 1-1 coaching program.
But if you just want a snack-sized helping?
Then a
virtual VIP day might be a better option. We focus on one area of your business, exactly the thing you want help with, whether its money mindset, personal brand, your niche or your offers.
I say VIP ‘day’ because thats a phrase people are familiar with, but with time zone differences its actually several sessions over a few days. Which is great for us introverts!
All of these options have developed from going through my own signature process and identifying the expertise I have, that others don’t.
Value is more than just money
I mentioned value for money, but valuing YOURSELF is one of the added benefits of getting clarity and implementing systems.
If you have ANY doubt at all that what you do isn’t something special, just stick around my world for a bit and that will magically disappear from your brain, you can’t help it! lol
When you’ve got clarity around your expertise and your offers…
🤩 Your marketing message becomes a whole lot clearer as well.
🤩 Its so much easier to niche down and talk to the exact right people who need your expertise, what you offer.
🤩 Its so much easier to share what you know and make offers for those people to work with you.
🤩 Its so much easier to create content, sales pages, videos, podcasts, whatever it is you like doing to promote yourself.
Can you see how important it is to work on what I call the foundations of your business? Everyone seems to be in such a rush to get to the marketing and visibility part, because thats cool! But their offers are vague, they’re taking a spray gun approach and trying to appeal to everyone.
Get that clarity on your expertise. Bring it to life in a way that helps people see the gaps in their own business, life, online presence, whatever it is that you do.
Put it together in a simple, clear offer that shows them how you take them from A to B, you’re the bridge between those two points.
Don’t forget to honour your time and energy by not overdelivering. You’re no good to anyone if you burn yourself out. We all have the same hours in a day as anyone else, and there HAS to be time for you, for fun, for life.
You also need to honour that expertise with pricing that supports your own financial goals.
That’ll be different for everyone, but there’s a system for that too.
I give my clients a simple pricing formula that includes a reality check around the minimum amount they’ll be paid for that particular offer.
If thats acceptable to them, thats the perfect price.
If it doesn’t quite meet their goals, we need to rethink the price.
How many clients you can work with at any one time plays a part in how you set your prices as well. We’ll talk about that in another episode!
Thats what I’ve got for you today!
Whether you call it a system, a process, framework, roadmap, any other name, systems really will set you free – even if they don’t seem sexy or fun!
Clarity in anything is a game changer, those lightbulb moments are where the growth happens.
It could be a tiny spark of clarity or it could be a full on OMG explosion in your brain. I love them all, and I love helping people have those moments.
You’ll find the links to all of those ways to get in touch in the description of this episode, and in the show notes.
Take care, have fun playing with systems and following the breadcrumbs to clarity, and I’ll catch you in the next episode.
