Fun Business Fun Money Podcast
EP 078 – What if THIS is perfect already?

Not everything is going to show up as you’d expect, all perfect and nice right out of the box.

Being able to reframe even the worst things is a skill that has to be developed over time.

In this quick tip / tactic episode, lets see how we can turn any situation into something you can call ‘perfect’.

TRANSCRIPT

Hey there, and welcome back to the Fun Business Fun Money podcast!

I’m going all woo on you today, so if you’re just new here and we’ve not met yet out there for real or in the online world…

I’m Deirdre Amies, I’m the FUN business and money coach, and I’m a little bit practical and logic, a little bit woo and magic. LOL!

If that’s not your kinda thing, no worries! But if it IS, I think you’ll like this one.

The reason I make that distinction that I’m a little bit of this and a little bit of that is that none of us are one dimensional.

If that were the case we’d all be a bit cartoony, flat and predictable. And while that might sound a little bit fun for a while, I reckon it would get all kinds of boring pretty quickly!

I mean, you just know that if you pull a dish of lasagne out of the oven, Garfield is going to show up in less than 3 seconds flat! He’s all cute and fluffy, but predictable!

Let’s reframe predictable and boring!

What I’ve got for you today on the woo front is a bit of a reframe on the predictable and boring routine stuff that is every day life.

I’m a big fan of finding the fun in anything and everything you’re doing, whether its work, home and family stuff, or what most people would classify as fun – social activities, going on an adventure, basically anything that brings you joy.

Fun is NOT all adrenaline fuelled extreme stuff! I mean, thats fun for SOME people, but most definitely not for me or the majority of the world’s population! We like WATCHING people do it but we don’t want to do it ourselves!

Fun is good conversations with good people.

Fun is losing yourself in a good book or movie. You really can’t beat a good story for making you feel all the feels, can you?

Hubby and I recently watched a movie called “Red, White & Brass”, its hilarious!

It’s based on a true story about a Tongan rugby super fan who creates a brass band out of literally nothing, nobody could play a single instrument. And all because he and his family and church members wanted to go to the 2011 Rugby World Cup game.

Its a hilarious feel good story, I LOVE that they’re speaking Tongan as well as English, theres so much Kiwi and South Pacific Island humour throughout, it really is a fun and inspiring story. Check that one out!

Its a great reframe on a fairly mundane problem that most people have.

Most people would be trying to figure out where they can get the money to buy the tickets. This group looked at that option and then decided to go all kinds of unconventional that turned into a challenging but fun experience.

So how do you reframe the predictable and boring routine stuff that we call life and then turn it into something that you’d call fun?

A few years ago during my ‘sponge brain soaking up all the info’ phase that I mentioned last week in episode 76 I came across a YouTube video of a talk at Awesomefest, which was an annual event that MindValley used to run.

Its evolved into something else now, but I still love the idea of going to something called Awesomefest! It sounds like a really good time.

This talk was about reframing the here and now as the elusive and perfect utopia that is heaven. The thing people aspire to.

What if THIS, right here, right now, is heaven? What if THIS is what we’re here to experience?

And what if we’re dismissing that experience because we’re constantly searching for something ELSE that we define as ‘fun’?

Another way to say this is something I heard the lovely Suzy Ashworth mention on a recent podcast episode…

How can THIS be perfect?

Whatever ‘this’ is for you, how can you feel like its perfect?

I mean, it could be the shittiest, worst possible thing thats ever happened to you! Been through a few of those myself.

How can THIS be perfect? What if THIS is heaven?

Its all in how you choose to look at it.

Right now I’m going through peri-menopause, and I never thought I’d be saying this but DAMN its messing with me! Not in a majorly extreme way with emotional outbursts or anything, but I’m definitely having a few mild hot flushes and I most definitely have brain fog!

Its frustrating as hell, its getting in the way of all the things I WANT to be doing.

The things I said I’d do once everything else was sorted, once everyone else was taken care of, I’ll do that then. This is honestly the worst thing that could happen to me right now, as I’m in full creation mode in all areas of my business.

I need my brain to be on fire, not hiding under a cloud of fog!

Its like the ultimate insult – women spend all these years raising kids and sacrificing a bunch of stuff to nurture and support the people around us. Only to be taken out by hormones right as we’re feeling a bit of freedom. Dammit!

How can THIS be perfect?

Well, I can be kind to myself. I can not beat myself up or feel guilty about only being able to write one short post or email without needing to take a significant break.

I can research the supplements that help with menopausal brain fog.

I found one last week, ordered it and I kid you not, within an hour of taking it I was able to get a decent chunk of work done in a shorter timeframe. Who knew?? Somebody did, but I didn’t LOL!

Its an absolute winner for me right now, and it solves an immediate problem I have.

So now over to you…

Whatever is going on for you, whether its full speed ahead momentum, or the brakes are constantly on, or anything in between.

Just ask yourself the question…

How can THIS be perfect? What if THIS is heaven?

Look for the lessons in the situation. My brain fog and hot flushes are showing me there’s room to adapt and change, nothing is ever set in stone and your journey will never go exactly as planned.

But it can be perfect right now, today, in the moment.

Thats what I’ve got for you today! Like I said, a little bit woo, a little bit philosophical, with a dash of peri-menopause just to spice things up!

How can THIS be perfect? It already is.
What if THIS is heaven? it already is.

Take care, have fun being kind to yourself and finding new perspectives, and I’ll catch you in the next episode!
